Testing

I conduct educational assessments for dyslexia and/or dyscalculia using a variety of tools and surveys.

*This is not a full neuropsych evaluation, but an educational diagnosis which can guide your teaching methods, styles, and curriculum choices, as well as inform needed accommodations on a 504 plan.

The Process

The screening process involves a fairly extensive phone call with the student's parents in which I collect a full medical and family history.  I'll need copies of the student's school records, including report cards and standardized test scores, and 2-4 unedited writing samples (for dyslexia testing.)   The student will meet with me for about 90 minutes during which time we'll go through about 8 assessment activities or tests evaluating phonemic awareness, phonics decoding & encoding, reading fluency and accuracy, rapid naming skills, (for dyslexia) or a broad range of math skills (for dyscalculia).

Step 1

Contact me via the contact form, phone, or email.  Within 48 hours I'll reach out to you for a quick phone call when we determine if this type of dyslexia/dyscalculia assessment is appropriate for your student.

Step 2

We'll have a 45-60 minute in-depth phone call when I can learn more about your student's strengths, struggles, medical and family history.  If we decide to pursue testing, we'll set up that appointment and you'll send me school records and writing samples.

Step 3

I'll meet with the student for about 90 minutes in which I conduct a battery of assessments.  About 2 weeks later we'll schedule another phone or Zoom meeting to go over the full results!
