ABOUT ME

As a stay-at-home parent, I homeschooled my children through 8th grade, an experience that brought both joy and a a passion for individualized education. During that time, I also worked as a teacher and curriculum librarian for two homeschool enrichment programs in the Longmont area. It was through one of these programs that a fellow homeschool parent approached me for help. Her son was struggling to read, and although she had access to the Barton Reading & Spelling System, she felt overwhelmed by its intensity. Having minored in special education, and having an intense curiosity about the Barton program, I offered to teach him myself. Thus began my love for Orton-Gillingham-based instruction.

I went on to complete an intensive Orton-Gillingham certification program so I could more effectively reach more students who were struggling with literacy. I have also completed coursework that qualifies me to conduct independent dyslexia evaluations for students ages 8-18. Having tutored dozens of students with some level of dyslexia, and advising countless other families who homeschool their students with learning differences, I find immense satisfaction in helping students find success and achieve their potential!

I wholeheartedly believe in the words of educator George Evans:
“Every child can learn—just not on the same day, or in the same way.”

Helping each learner find their way is not only my mission—it’s the most fulfilling part of what I do.
